El documental de Dave Grohl, Sound City, saldrá en febrero de 2013 y será un un homenaje a esos estudios de California donde grabaron Fleetwood Mac, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica e incluso el propio Nevermind de Nirvana, y según el propio Grohl tiene como objetivo «demostrar el elemento humano de crear y grabar música» con un relevante número de artistas escribiendo y grabando «nuevas y originales canciones al efecto».
